Is Marine Insurance provided for the vehicle?

Accepted Answer

Your vehicle is not automatically covered by Marine Insurance. You need to purchase separate insurance coverage. Insurance coverage is now mandatory before shipment — without insurance, shipment via RORO vessel cannot proceed. We will first verify the status of your vehicle before informing you of the draft insurance value for your vehicle.

What is the cost of shipping a car to Peninsular Malaysia?

For car shipping from Sabah to Peninsular Malaysia: Passenger cars RM 2,540, Commercial vehicles RM 2,640. For car shipping from Sarawak to Peninsular Malaysia: Passenger cars RM 1,995, Commercial vehicles RM 2,065. Prices already include full documentation; Marine Insurance is billed separately (per Insured Value).

How much does it cost to ship a car from Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu (KK) or Kuching?

Accepted Answer

From Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu via RORO vessel: motorcycle RM 1,250, sedan RM 2,245, and SUV RM 2,490. To Kuching: motorcycle RM 1,200, sedan RM 2,000, and SUV RM 2,100 (direct route). All prices are one-way; full documentation is provided and Marine Insurance is billed separately (per Insured Value). For other ports such as Sandakan, Tawau, and Sibu, please check with our officer for the latest rates.

What documents are required to ship a car to Sabah or Sarawak?

Accepted Answer

You need to prepare: (1) a copy of your IC, front and back, (2) a copy of the vehicle grant, all pages including endorsements, and (3) a copy of the insurance policy for loan-free vehicles. If the car is still under instalment, you MUST include a Bank Release Letter from your financier. Everything can be arranged online before we confirm the vessel date.

My car is still under a bank loan — can I still ship it to Sabah/Sarawak?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For vehicles still under instalment (loan), you must obtain a Bank Release Letter from your financing bank before shipment can proceed. This letter confirms the bank permits the vehicle to be shipped out of the Peninsular. Send a copy of the letter along with your other documents and we will handle the rest.

What is the difference between RORO and Container shipping?

RORO (Roll On/Roll Off) is for the vehicle only — faster, completed within 10-14 days, but personal belongings are not allowed inside the car. Container shipping lets you load goods together with the vehicle, ideal for those relocating, but it takes longer (around 30-45 days depending on port conditions). Marine Insurance is arranged for both methods — premium per Insured Value.

Is there a pickup or door-to-door (deliver to address) service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to port-to-port, we offer pickup and door-to-door delivery (straight from or to your home address) for an additional charge starting from RM150 to RM250 depending on location. The actual charge depends on distance and area, so please check with our officer to confirm the pickup price for your address.

Is "posting a car" the same as shipping a car to Sabah/Sarawak?

Yes, it is the same thing. "Posting a car", "shipping a car", and "car delivery" all refer to the same service — the vehicle is loaded onto a RORO vessel or container at Port Klang and shipped to a port in Sabah or Sarawak (or vice versa). It is not posted like a parcel; your car travels by cargo ship with full documentation and Marine Insurance.

Can I ship cargo (goods) as well, not just a car?

Yes. Besides vehicles, we handle general cargo (LCL sea freight). The port-to-port estimate from Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu is RM450 per CBM (cubic metre), with a minimum charge of 1 CBM.
